Piercing service fees and jewelry costs are separate because jewelry varies by material, size, and style. Initial piercing jewelry generally ranges from $15 to $100 or more, depending on your selection.

We carry titanium, steel, niobium, and gold options for a range of styles and budgets. Posts and decorative ends are sold individually.

Black Fern Piercing is primarily appointment-based, but we accept walk-ins when our schedule allows. Scheduled appointments always take priority, and walk-ins are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis around those appointments. We cannot guarantee walk-in availability or wait times.

If you have scheduling needs or time constraints, we strongly recommend booking in advance. Appointments are available for piercings, consultations, checkups, jewelry installation and styling, and cleaning services.

Jewelry shopping and styling appointments are for clients who want to purchase jewelry in the studio and receive help selecting, styling, and installing their new pieces. Appointment length depends on how many piercings you would like changed or styled.

Curation appointments provide additional time to plan a complete facial, ear, or body jewelry arrangement. These appointments may include styling existing piercings, selecting or custom-ordering jewelry, and discussing additional piercings.

Jewelry insertion appointments are for clients who already have the pieces they want installed and do not need additional shopping or styling time.

For fresh piercings, we only use jewelry supplied by our studio. We cannot verify the material, composition, quality, or sterilization suitability of outside jewelry, and we do not use previously worn jewelry for new piercings. You are welcome to bring outside jewelry for reference so we can help you find a comparable option in the studio.

For fully healed piercings, we may install outside jewelry after evaluating both the jewelry and the piercing. We reserve the right to decline installation if the jewelry is damaged, broken, unsuitable for its intended placement, or if the piercing is not healed enough to support the change.

Black Fern is not responsible for damage that may occur while installing outside jewelry.

Yes. We offer standard lobe piercings for children as young as three years old. More advanced cartilage and other piercings may be available beginning at age 12.

Age requirements vary by piercing because anatomy and healing needs differ. Specific age requirements are listed with each service on our booking site. Free consultations are also available for younger clients and their parents or guardians who would like to discuss a particular piercing.

A parent or legal guardian must remain present for the entire appointment.

The accompanying adult must bring a current, physical state-issued or government-issued photo ID. Photos of an adult’s ID and expired identification are not accepted.

The minor must also have identification. Accepted options may include a state-issued ID, driver’s permit or license, school ID, school portal identification, yearbook photo, or another official document showing the minor’s first and last name. If the document does not include a photo, please also bring a clear individual photo of the minor.

A birth certificate is required to confirm the relationship between the minor and the parent signing for the service. Photos of the minor’s identification or birth certificate are accepted.

Legal guardians must bring documentation establishing guardianship. If the names on the documents do not match, additional legal documentation—such as name-change paperwork or a marriage license—is required. Photos of these supporting documents are accepted.
